Level 6 in industrial Automation - "I've taken a crucial step by mastering the tools that uncover real-world performance data and surface the precise pain points in my workplace. Now, it’s all about turning that insight into focused action. I believe this course will greatly enhance my ability to identify and gather data on improvement opportunities, as well as clearly communicate issues to other departments and stakeholders when requesting approval."
Michael Byrne, Automation Technician, Comar
"So far, we've delved into prompt engineering, which focuses on crafting effective prompts to obtain accurate and useful outputs from AI models. We've also explored building Model Context Protocols (MCPs), which are structured frameworks that allow AI systems to interact with external tools and data sources in a secure and standardized way, thus extending their capabilities beyond text generation or sending emails directly from Claude was the point we got to this week.
In terms of the broader AI landscape, I think we're very much at the "cake mix" phase: plugging in these MCPs can be a bit cumbersome, but it's a great learning curve. Thankfully, we have a fantastic group of people on the course, and James makes the sessions engaging and fun, which really helps.
The AI course has been an excellent experience so far. It strikes a great balance between theory and hands on application. Learning prompt engineering has given me practical skills for interacting effectively with AI, and exploring Model Context Protocols has opened my eyes to how AI can integrate with real-world systems. While some parts are challenging, the collaborative environment and James's engaging approach make it enjoyable and rewarding. I’d highly recommend this course to anyone looking to understand and apply AI in a practical, productivity boosting focused way."

Level 7 in Quality Technology - "The Level 7 that I recently successfully passed was challenging to say the least but the Skillnet staff kept in there encouraging the whole group that we were doing well and to keep going when many of us wanted to give up."

Level 6 in Industrial Automation - “Doing this course means I should be able to reduce troubleshooting time. It has given me good safety concepts to avoid any incidents in the workplace. It will help me predict what a circuit will do by observing its components/loads, and how to install an electrical system.”
Paul Sliazis, Technician, Benning Ireland GmbH
“For Lisk Ireland, and myself personally, being part of the Engineering Skillnet steering group has been a genuinely valuable experience. The opportunity to assist in the identification and co-creation of programmes where gaps exist in the workforce such as (both) the Level 7 in Quality Technology and Value Stream Mapping for Sustainability Leaders has delivered real impact across our organisation. These tailored courses have directly supported the development of our key talent, strengthened our technical capability and helped close critical skills gaps within our teams.
What sets Engineering Skillnet apart is their collaborative approach. They listen, adapt, and work alongside industry to ensure that each learning initiative is relevant and future-focused. The support and advocacy for industry throughout the design and delivery process has been exceptional. Our team that have availed of courses have praised the relevancy and delivery methods of modules, allowing for balance between work, learning and life commitments. There has been a net positive of stellar networking opportunities at both trainings and the various scheduled Skillnet meetings also.
For any company serious about building capability and preparing their workforce for the next phase of industrial transformation partnering with Engineering Skillnet is an invaluable investment.”
Gerard Walsh, HRM, Lisk
“The impact of the Skillnet programme has been transformative. We've successfully implemented a robust ESG strategy which has already started to drive real change within our company e.g. the introduction of emissions monitoring has allowed us to better understand our environmental footprint"
